A foundational full-stack project built to master core web development concepts. Users browse a pizza menu with prices and descriptions, customize their selections, add items to a shopping cart, and place orders. The backend server manages the menu data, processes orders, and stores order history, with a vanilla JS/HTML frontend providing real-time cart updates.
01 / The challenge
Early in learning full-stack development, the goal was to connect a real frontend to a real backend without a framework doing the heavy lifting — routing, state, and data flow all had to be reasoned through by hand.
02 / The solution
Built a small Express server to serve the menu, manage cart state, and process orders, paired with a vanilla JS/HTML/CSS frontend. No ORM, no frontend framework — just REST endpoints, DOM manipulation, and state kept in sync between client and server.
